One Hand on the Heart, One on the World
Willowwood Arboretum
Arrival Breath
Let your shoulders soften.
Take one slow breath in.
Let the exhale be a little longer than the inhale.
Again.
No need to change what you are feeling.
Just arrive where you are.
Practice
Place one hand gently on your chest.
Let it rest there.
Place one hand on your chest and one hand on something near you: a tree, a dog resting beside you, a mug, the ground.
Feel both points of contact.
Your hand on your heart.
Your hand on the world.
Stay for a few breaths.
Quietly notice:
I am here.
Love is still here.
The world is still holding me.
Nothing needs to be solved in this moment.
Just held.
A Small Reminder 🌿
You are not asking yourself to feel better.
You are reminding the body
that it is not alone.
There is still contact.
There is still steadiness.
There is still something near enough to touch.
Optional Add-Ons
🌿 Family: Try this together without explaining too much. One hand on the heart, one hand on the table, tree, blanket, or floor. Let everyone choose their own words or no words at all.
🌿 Daily Life: Use this before opening a difficult message, after a hard phone call, beside your morning tea, or when the day feels too wide.
🌿 Virtual: Place one hand on your chest and one hand on your desk, mug, notebook, or chair. Let the screen stay where it is. Come back to the body before continuing.
Bluff Note
This practice belongs beautifully inside grief work because it does not try to brighten anything too quickly.
It simply says:
I am still here.
Love has not disappeared.
The world has not let go.
