The Practice of Practicing
Pokeweed berries, becoming… hidden among the green at Hacklebarney.
Practice Makes More Possible.
Practice is the intentional act of returning to something
again and again…
so that, over time, more becomes possible.
Practice Is a Form of Return
Practice does not always look like discipline.
Sometimes it looks like returning to the page.
Returning to the trail.
Returning to your body.
Returning to the work.
Returning to attention after distraction.
Returning even when the last attempt was messy.
Not because we failed.
Because returning is how something becomes part of us.
Find Your Way Back
Choose one thing worth returning to.
A page.
A trail.
A movement your body remembers.
A place where your attention becomes quieter.
Begin where you are.
Stay for a few minutes. Notice what feels familiar. Notice what has changed.
When your attention wanders — and it will — gently and lovingly return.
You do not need to do it perfectly.
The returning is the practice.
And while practice does not guarantee the extraordinary,
It helps us be there when the extraordinary appears.
